Video: The Transformation of Rick Grimes
This video shows the evolution of the main character in The Walking Dead, Rick Grimes, played by Andrew Lincoln. The video starts out with scenes from the series premiere. It shows when he first wakes up from the hospital after he was shot in a shootout with two criminals. When Rick was shot, he lived in a normal world, but when he awoke from his coma, his entire world had changed. Everybody’s entire world had changed. The video show us scenes from season one through season three, with Rick waking up to him finding his family, to their group living at the farm, all the way to their time at the prison where Lori dies giving birth to their daughter Judith. This videos encompasses most of the evolution of Rick Grimes in The Walking Dead.
One observation that I noticed from watching the show, writing this blog post, and watching this video, was that when Rick is in his police uniform he tries to maintain order and continue to live by the rules of society. However, after he loses his police uniform, his personality and the way he lives his life drastically changed. When he was still in his uniform after the zombie apocalypse had started, he continued to live by the rules and he tried to maintain order. After he no longer wears his police uniform, Rick begins to live by the notion that he must do anything to survive, even if he has to kill a human being. He will do anything to protect himself and his family. One thing that stays the same though is that he still tries to maintain order and Rick is always looked at as the leader of the group.
